Let’s talk Stone . . . and his intensity – a character study

I did a post a while back on the moment in the books that we’re introduced to Stone. I’m endlessly fascinated with Stone. There’s always more to find out. The way he looks, the way he acts, the way he thinks.

The moment we’re introduced to Stone – free Friday snippet

Been a few weeks since I’ve posted a free Friday snippet. Apologies. Just a quiet time for me. Today, our snippet comes from the novel, Daughter of the Red Planet. This is the first time we’re introduced to Stone.

When you force yourself to quit

Had to pull myself away today. The story was going so well, and things were just working out perfectly. The story was flowing well, the characters were feeding me . . . and I didn’t want to stop! Love those days.   In other news, Daughter of the Red Planet released today, I just released the paperbackContinue reading “When you force yourself to quit”

Finished Anora this morning

Very pleased that I finished Anora. Although it was left open for a series, I don’t think it will be one. I’m going to have to fix everything and remove the series name. I’ll keep the cover and the series name just in case, but I have no plans to expand. The dogs were actingContinue reading “Finished Anora this morning”

Story creation – characters

Stone, Stone, Stone. How you do fascinate me. As I edit DAUGHTER OF THE RED PLANET (play with story notes now that the editor has the book) and ANCIENT SCARS, I discover a whole new plot line with one particular character. I have a load of scenes percolating for when I write the third inContinue reading “Story creation – characters”

Hit my goal with room to spare.

Totally hit my goal. That’s without any editing shortcuts either. I did a thorough edit. I sent Daughter of the Red Planet to Creech Enterprises with 45 minutes to spare. I’m exhausted so this will be a quick note mostly. I got my newsletter out, and will be taking the weekend off. Also had a great dayContinue reading “Hit my goal with room to spare.”

Progress – and reached my goal!

Today I didn’t get as many words as I would’ve liked. I’m still happy – anything is something! – about it though. I retraced my steps, tried to work out a few things, and then ended up deleting paragraphs so I could just rewrite them instead of trying to work them out. Made it easier, butContinue reading “Progress – and reached my goal!”

Tired, but that’s a good thing

Good numbers today. I was able to start on time (almost) so that helped me loads. I got a good advancement in my Daughter of the Red Planet editing too. I have to edit at least ten pages every day to hit my end of the month goal. I have one month of give in that timeContinue reading “Tired, but that’s a good thing”

The plot thickens

Had some very interesting ideas hit me for the Guardian of Life series last night. I’m excited to implement it. I swear I’d seen something similar in a movie, but can’t find anything so maybe it was an art drawing. The closest I found to my idea was the “dinobots” in the latest Transformers movie. LoveContinue reading “The plot thickens”

Something’s gooonnna happen

Good word count today. I’m happy that I boosted myself back up. Last week wasn’t as fun in how many words I got. One of the drawbacks of writing about the word count every day, I end up letting my own mind get sucked into that realm of I have to hit a certain numberContinue reading “Something’s gooonnna happen”

Back to Mila today

Got more words than I thought I would. Mostly because being a Monday and the first day I’ve written in this story for over a week, (I think it’s been almost 9 days) I didn’t think I’d get many. That means that I had to go back in the story by one full chapter andContinue reading “Back to Mila today”
