Woke up with an extreme case of the dizzies today. It was so bad I could barely walk and ended up not being able to handle breakfast. Thought I could. And then I couldn’t. In case it was a budding migraine I took some aspirin but didn’t have Aleve which works best for me on the rare case that it crops up. So I’ve been taking it easy as much as possible.

The only thing I can think in these situations is why do people do things to make themselves feel this way for fun? Yes, I’m that boring. Can’t do much else other than think without brain and world going topsy turvy. So, brain pops up weird thoughts.

I did manage to calm it enough to get some writing in, but that’s from not doing too much at all if I can, avoiding digital screens as much as I can, and trying to get a lot of water in me, and fresh air. Managed to write a good amount too so that’s a plus.

If you need a keyboard, keep that in mind. On sale, it’s usually less than $30. So I’d suggest saving for later. If you’re like me, and like laptop keyboard (especially dell), that’s the feel of it. It’s a little weird being circular keys, but you get used to the fingertips brushing the edges. My fingers are small though so some may not notice that if they have larger hands. I love the silence of the tapping but the spacebar definitely clacks compared to the rest of the keys. Awkward design to me.

Today, Anika got to see a bit more that she’s able to lean on the trust some have for her. The others who have chosen to follow that group are also showing as much. Not, in the same way, no, but she’s been dealing all her life with being an outcast and has recently discovered that in fact – there comes a point we come across people (or a person) who we can place our faith in. Who will be there as they’ve said because they’re also showing that they’re there.

We can definitely relate to that, can’t we? Those of us who’ve been betrayed, even in some little way, even if once, we build up this guard. It becomes harder to trust another’s word. Even someone who’s only ever been betrayed once, but it was a big deal for them can relate. The next time you’re a lot more wary. You’ve heard the pretty words promised. Where the actions don’t align.

With Anika it’s not just happened again and again, but she grew up in the “commune,” as it’s called. Basically like a camp room? Or, military bunker. Or, even just a large room with multiple cots. But there’s also a floor for eating, a room for cleaning up (the bathing room in this world), and now privacy. Zilch. Zippo.

It speaks on what sort of environment they are brought up in. They’re brought up not to know what personal possessions and privacy is. It even means that certain manners aren’t taught properly to people who grow up in those “communes.”

When we grow up outside of that sort of place as you or I may have, we know if this is mine it’s mine. It’s not right for you to just walk up into my home and take it away. That’s wrong. It can literally be a law for us where we get punished. But not in Anika’s world. If John wishes to have those boots? Well he can walk right across the room, grab them, and good luck getting them back unless you have a group of friends on your side.

It’s a fend for yourself zone. It’s a zone where one learns – if ya wanna keep it, it better be on your body, or you are reallllly good at hiding it. Unless for whatever reason nobody dares touch. So simple manners of no touchie don’t exist. As I stated yesterday, the planet looks absolutely beautiful. But beneath that beauty lies dangers.

Imagine the amount of trust one already would lack in a world like that. Then to have friends betray you. To have potential crushse do it. To trust in a world like that already is hard. But after even one betrayal? It’s not just a simple, “given ’em a chance, Anika.” It could be a literal choice of trusting someone who’ll get you killed.

So today Anika making the choice to drop her guard and place trust in someone(s) is a far bigger deal than it may be for us. And we all know how hard it is for us to regain trust again.

Think it speaks volumes to her strength of character.
