Featured image is my boy, Kona. I captured that last night. I didn’t know I did until after. That’s the look of his love for me. Can’t even explain how that look makes me feel. The bond I have with that dog is soul mate love. Purest, most perfect, love. Different than any animal I’ve ever had. ♥ ♥ ♥
Mila and Stefan have been wandering through Kylarra and Verrick’s home, completely abandoned. Next they’ll be going down into Lycaen Ridge to find out what happened, and where the two of them disappeared to. Or if any of the town folk have any idea.
All they know is that the front door was shattered, but it went out, not in. As in, something went through the door to the outside from inside. But all they know is that there was some solid black fur which was left behind. Mila picks up on a sound that sends shivers down her spine and once she’s never heard before (she’s heard Lycaens growl, after all, Verrick’s pack stalked her in the Enchanting the Moon series). She can’t decipher the sound for anything. And then there is Stefan. He’s a Lycaen. Pure-blooded, ancient blood. He should easily be able to shove that big ol’ nose of his on the hair and smell Verrick.
But he can’t.
There is a faint Verrick scent hitting him, but not solid this is Verrick’s fur deal. Now why would a full-blooded, ancient-blooded werewolf be incapable of smelling Verrick on a hair that was clearly left by him? I mean they have no reason to suspect anything else of having left that hair. It was in his office, the front door?
All signs point to Verrick.
Now as I wrote this, but not the book, I realized from (not going to spoil story) what Verrick is that it’s very likely that’s another extension of what he is. What he’s capable of. What is IN his blood.
Ooooo right? Even without knowing what the heck I’m talking about, you’re going . . . now what is that? This is what I’m wondering as well. Time will tell how that is possible.
At this point, Mila and Stefan are standing in Verrick’s office. She took a single hair from Stefan that he found hanging out along the door. And Mila is about to find out what on earth the hair will reveal.
What will it? We’ll see tomorrow.
