I am, and have always been, a huge fan of Michael Crichton. I didn’t know that I had one of his books in my stash that I hadn’t read – from my brother’s stash that I confiscated. I couldn’t get into my last book that I tried to read, so I grabbed this one, instead.
I’m super happy that I did. Micro is an interesting read. It’s a bit like the movies, Honey I shrunk the kids, in that people get shrunk and have to figure things out. Although it’s a completely different concept than one that I have read before because unlike the movies, it’s not a sweet family-oriented plot. I don’t want to give away the plot so I can’t say too much about it, but it’s suspenseful, intriguing, and made me forget the time completely. It was one of those books, which I love.
The writing was a bit scarce for my taste, but I see that it’s a book that was taken over by Richard Preston when Michael Crichton died, so I’m going to guess that the reason. It’s still a book worthy of a read, especially if you love science as I happen to do. It made this a bit science fiction-ish, but still held a bit of thriller, and for some people, even horror. I really enjoyed it.
I’d give it a 4/5 stars.
