The Big Move

I have thought this over for a while now. I wanted to stick with Blogger for many reasons, but find the reasons for staying, grow less with time. I really love Blogger and the easy interface, yet now that my audience grows and I want it to grow further, Blogger has become a pain. I spend far too many hours a day adjusting settings that shouldn’t be spent on anything but writing, or editing.

I have been thinking about how best to do the switch, and what I would do. I set up Ariana Reports on Hosted WordPress with GoDaddy to check it out. To see whether I should go with that interface ( or .org), or stick with Blogger for a bit longer.

Then there are the comments. I know that a lot of you don’t like the Disqus comments. So when I move this site over (the address will be the same), you’ll see the default WordPress comments. I won’t switch them. It’s the spam that keeps me from removing the comment system here. When I remove the system, I ended up with a massive amount of spam I had to counteract. So if things look wonky until the end of the year, you will understand why.

I have decided that I will move this site to WordPress to not just help me, but to help my contributors. I am putting them, and you the readers, first. I want to make sure the transition is as easy as possible, and that I don’t have that much work to do. Or you.

By the end of  this year, I’m hoping everything will be switched over. At first I was going to tell you that you didn’t have to do anything. But, last night I thought of something I would ask. Right now, some of you are subscribed to my MailChimp daily feed. You don’t have to change anything if you don’t want. I just thought I would ask this, and offer it.

If you would like to switch right now to the newsletter, which is delivered once a week, but does give you the blog posts as well, you can do so. I have seen an uptick of subscribers lately to the newsletter so if you are reading this now, thank you SO much, I really hope you enjoy the newsletters as much as I enjoy compiling them. And I do! Even when sometimes I’m half awake, or rushing to get it out.

We at love to hear how much you all enjoy what is shared around here. Everyone behind this site is so grateful to you for giving us time every day, and that you gain something from what is shared.

Now the difference between the once a week newsletter and the daily blog posts, is just that. My newsletter goes out once a week, whereas the daily blog subscription goes out daily.

Do you want to join the newsletter for a once a week site recap, free extras, and general numminess?

By subscribing, you will receive a once a week newsletter that will include:

    1. updates on where I’m at in editing, what I’m working on, what I’ve been up to in terms of writing
    2. Any special events or games I have going on, on the website or in my forum
    3. site recaps for both my websites
    4. Ariana’s Cafe Writing Prompt
    5. Whatever I am currently offering for free.

Current offer: one chapter a week of my novelette Immortal Separation

Otherwise, if you don’t want to switch, that’s all right too. I thought I would mention it. The site being moved, shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience, other than mismatched links and some pages not showing when they should. I don’t think too much of that will happen, but just in case. If you DO find a link that isn’t working, or is outdated, please drop a comment in the comments. I don’t care if it’s in an old post, new post, or a post that has nothing to do with your comment. I never mind any kind of conversation on any posts. My conversations always go off on tangents. That makes it so much fun to chat with everyone. You can contact me through email, too.

Thanks for stopping by, reading, and commenting! P.S. I'm NOT the radio Kim.
